چکیده

Conditions which interfere with coagulation may increase the risk of post-procedural bleeding and/or complications during interventional radiology procedures. This study investigates influence disorders on acute post-operative outcomes following lower extremity endovascular interventions for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). The 2014 to 2017 American College Surgeon’s National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database was filtered using CPT and ICD diagnosis codes relevant vascular interventions. Patients were divided into cohorts based a pre-operative disorder, including vitamin K deficiency, hemophilia, thrombocytopenia, or chronic anticoagulation that not discontinued prior procedure. Statistical analysis performed Fisher’s exact test assess differences in 30-day outcomes. A total 8022 patients included study, 5356 (67%) without disorder 2666 (33%) preprocedural disorder. at significantly increased mortality (odds ratio [OR] = 1.80, confidence interval [CI] 1.27-2.53, P 0.001), renal (OR 2.55, CI 1.48-4.38, 0.0001), cardiac 1.5, 1.01-2.07, 0.014), transfusion 1.96, 1.67-2.29, < 0.0001). In setting PAD, mortality, complications, transfusions compared disorders.

Acute lower extremity paralysis after lower extremity endovascular intervention.

A 61-year-old man underwent successful percutaneous revascularization of both lower limbs with multiple stent implantations. Paralysis of right lower limb was noticed after completion of procedure when transferring the patient from angiography table. Since hematoma compressing lumbosacral neural plexus could be a fatal complication, computed tomography (CT) image was taken. CT showed bulge of d...

Percutaneous interventions for lower extremity peripheral vascular disease.

Peripheral vascular disease of the lower extremities is an important cause of morbidity that affects up to 10 million people in the United States. The primary care physician can easily identify patients who are at risk for the disease with a questionnaire and a relatively simple test-the ankle brachial index. More than 70 percent of patients diagnosed with the disease remain stable or improve w...

Mortality following operations for lower extremity peripheral arterial disease

BACKGROUND We sought to identify risk factors associated with mortality following surgery for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). METHODS We evaluated the association between levels of control of atherosclerotic risk factors and time to mortality following either lower extremity bypass surgery or lower extremity amputation using Cox proportional hazards regression. RESULTS Among 796 patients...

Improving the level of amputation of the lower extremity after therapeutic endovascular intervention for patients with critical limb ischemia

Methods: We conducted a comparative study of two groups of patients suffering from arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities, and the decision taken to amputate above the knee for both of them. A group of patients selected for a therapeutic peripheral intervention, and the effect of this intervention in improving the level of amputation studied and calculated statistically. The study cond...

Lower extremity amputation in peripheral artery disease: improving patient outcomes

Peripheral artery disease affects over eight million Americans and is associated with an increased risk of mortality, cardiovascular disease, functional limitation, and limb loss. In its most severe form, critical limb ischemia, patients are often treated with lower extremity (LE) amputation (LEA), although the overall incidence of LEA is declining. In the US, there is significant geographic va...
